The company was established in 1969 by two European immigrants, Joseph Hamin and Eric Erb, who purchased a business being run out of a two-car garage in Maple Shade, NJ. They named the company H-E Tool & Manufacturing Company, utilizing their last name initials. The main business at that time, produced broadcast antennas for RCA Corporation in Camden, NJ.
By 1980 the business had outgrown the garages, so they moved to a larger 6,000 square foot facility, also in Maple Shade, NJ. Expansion and diversification continued as their list of capabilities continued to grow along with their equipment inventory, employees and client base. The company needed to move again to a larger location.
In 2000 they purchased our current facility, a 43,000 square foot, climate controlled, building located in Cinnaminson, NJ. After 40 years, the family owned business was acquired in July 2009 by Sea Box Inc., a company specializing in the design modification and manufacture of ISO containers for commercial and military applications. The name was then changed to “The Inventors Shop”. Jim Brennen Jr., President and Owner of Sea Box, said that this was an opportunity that could add efficiency and flexibility to their manufacturing operation.
We anticipate that The Inventors Shop will continue to grow, modernize and operate as a center for “Manufacturing Great Ideas”.
